Falcons News · Sports Information for Incoming 9th graders

Hello Future Falcon Families,

I am going to share some information about the 2020-2021 sports season. There is a lot of information in this letter so please take the time to look over everything, read the documents, and learn about the sports we offer at Saratoga High School.

During these unprecedented times, there is a lot unknown about what the upcoming school year will have in store for us. I was hoping to have start date information for you after our section meeting on Friday but no decisions were made. At this time, I do not know when sports will be cleared to begin. I encourage you to visit our athletics website at saratogaathletics.org for updates and announcements on try-out dates for fall and start dates for summer workouts. Information will be posted on the website as it becomes available. An email will also be sent if we get information before the school office closes at the end of June.

The plan for now will be to move forward as if sports seasons will begin as scheduled. Adjustments will be made as the county and school district provide information to us.

Under normal circumstances, we would have held a large assembly on May 18th welcoming all of our new students to Saratoga High School. This year, that information will come electronically in this letter.

Saratoga High School offers a choice of 28 sports to participate in. Each sport is listed by season in the area below. For sport-specific information, I urge you to reach out to the varsity coach for that sport. The varsity coaches are the first line of communication for any questions you may have about their sport. Additionally, feel free to reach out to me with general questions or if you are having difficulty reaching a specific varsity coach.

Our 8th grade sports night is something we look forward to each year. It is a chance for our administrators and coaching staff to meet new faces and see the excitement only high school athletics can bring. There is one piece of advice I share at this event every year to incoming freshman:

If you are interested in playing a sport in high school: DO IT!!

This year 47% of our students played at least one sport.  That is a very high number compared to similar schools.  However, as a small school,we need more athletes.  We are the smallest school in our league so small numbers are an issue in some sports.  A lot of our sports require no prior experience like cross country, field hockey, football, wrestling, lacrosse, softball, and track. Other sports require some experience or a level of competency to compete.

I hope to make the next four years at Saratoga High School as memorable as possible. The best way to do that is participate in high school athletics. On behalf of the coaching staff, I’d like to officially welcome the Class of 2024 to the Red Pride Tradition!
